A postdoctoral post funded by the Wellcome Trust and Royal Society is available in Dr Maria Christophorou’s group to investigate the role of the post-translational modification citrullination in stem cells, under physiological and pathological conditions. The post is for three years initially, with possibility to extend for a further two years. Cell and mouse model systems will be used to study the role of the citrullinating enzymes peptidylarginine deiminases (PADIs) in regulating self-renewal. The successful applicant will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary group using molecular, biochemical, cell biological and in vivo approaches to characterise the molecular mechanisms that control citrullination and its consequences for cell physiology and disease (e.g. Christophorou et al., Nature 507, 104).
Candidates must have a PhD or anticipate completing a PhD in the near future. You will need to demonstrate a strong track record and previous experience in molecular and cell biology.
The research group is newly established and will comprise 4 researchers in the first year. The Lab’s website is:

This is a full time post of 35 hours per week and fixed term for a period of 36 months.
