The School of Life Sciences is at the forefront of research in the biological sciences in the UK, coming in the top 10 in the REF 2014.
Medicinal chemist (Research Fellow II, Grade 8) Responsible for design and implementation of medicinal chemistry strategy.
We wish to appoint a number of positions within the Sussex Drug Discovery Centre (SDDC) to join a multidisciplinary team working on a 2-year project funded by the Wellcome Trust and scheduled to commence on 1st July, 2016. The project aims to identify novel compounds that target specific subtypes of the GABAA receptor with the ultimate goal of developing new drugs for the treatment of Huntington’s disease.
The project is led by Prof John Atack (molecular pharmacology), Prof Martin Gosling (electrophysiology) and Prof Simon Ward (medicinal chemistry and drug design) and an overview of research within the SDDC can be found at http://www.sussex.ac.uk/sddc/
