Research Associate in Bacterial Pathogenomics
£25,023 – £28,143 per annum Ref: 74797-096
Fixed term contract for 3 years
You will contribute to the expanding programme of research centred upon the population genetics and genomics of pathogenic bacteria in Warwick Medical School by supporting and operating a high-throughput, robotically assisted pipeline for handling bacteria, from single colony isolation through DNA purification and molecular genotyping via DNA sequencing and SNP typing. You will work under the direction of Mark Achtman, Professor of Bacterial Population Genetics and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary group of researchers.
You will have a good honours degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject coupled with Master’s degree in microbiology or other closely related subject. Recent experience of high throughput robotic microbial genotyping is essential as is experience in microbial sample tracking and data management using laboratory information management systems and bioformatics software. Good effective communication skills along with the ability to work well as part of a research team is also essential.
