Applications are invited for the position of Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the laboratory of Dr Alison Brewer. This laboratory is within the Cardiology department, situated within the James Black Centre (JBC) on the Denmark Hill Campus. The JBC was recently built to create a critical mass of research teams in the field of cardiovascular biology and disease, and houses groups which undertake a wide range of basic science research. This post is for an experienced post-doctoral researcher to conduct research on the molecular mechanisms which can be genetically or pharmacologically targeted to promote cardiomyocyte cell-cycling and proliferation in the post-natal heart. The aim is to inform future therapies to promote cardiac regeneration, and hence rescue cardiac function after, for instance, a heart attack.
Details
To pursue collaborative research with Dr Brewer, investigating the molecular mechanisms which underly the regulation of cardiomyocyte cell-cycling in the post-natal mouse heart. To further test the efficacy of therapeutic targeting of components of these pathways, in the maintenance of cardiac function after insult.
