The University is seeking to appoint a Head of Department of Biological Sciences to provide academic leadership in all aspects of research and teaching. You will have an international reputation in a relevant field within biological sciences that synergises with other members of the School of Applied Sciences and a demonstrated capacity to lead research and teaching in interdisciplinary contexts.
Working with the Dean, the Head of Department will provide strategic and operational leadership to deliver the School’s strategic objectives, have line-management responsibility for the Department’s staff and will represent the Department on School and University committees and in external forums.
An attractive package of research support will be offered to the successful candidate.
You should currently be of Professorial standing (or have the profile necessary to fulfil the University’s criteria for conferment of the title), have demonstrated capacity for academic leadership and an outstanding record of research and teaching. Strong demonstrated success in obtaining research funding and effective relationship management skills, along with a PhD in a relevant area, are considered essential.
