College of Life and Environmental Sciences
The University of Exeter is seeking to recruit an assistant laboratory manager on fixed-term two year contract as part of an integrated technical services team on the Penryn Campus. The post will primarily support research in the College of Life and Environmental Sciences as part of a team providing care for animals on a daily basis (at present fish and insects and in the future birds).
The successful applicant will assist with the management of research facilities and also provide direct support to Dr Alastair Wilson in the Aquarium – contributing to the set up and delivery of studies in animal behaviour, genetics and life history under the direction of the research team.. The role will involve working closely with staff and students within CLES, including technical advice and maintenance of laboratory equipment, and practical delivery of experimental outputs.
It is expected that the role-holder will be proactively committed to their own personal and professional development. The successful applicant will be mentored by and learn from existing team members in Technical Services, and will also have the opportunity to develop though our Staff Learning and Development team.
Before submitting an application you may wish to discuss the post further by contacting Amy Campbell, Wildlife Technician, on a.campbell@exeter.ac.uk and/or Dr Alastair Wilson on a.wilson@exeter.ac.uk.
