The University of Bristol is one of the UK’s leading research universities. These posts offer the opportunity for the successful candidates to expand their experience in animal technology while working within both conventional and barrier facilities and with a range of species (including rodents and aquatic species).
The successful candidates must be able to undertake responsibility for the welfare of the animals in their care and to promote and contribute to the high culture of care expected from all users working with animals at the university of Bristol . You will be new or recent entrants to animal technology, but keen and enthusiastic to make a career in caring for research animals. Ideally you will have some experience of rodent care and husbandry in a research setting, and entry level qualifications in animal care. You should have a good grasp of animal biology and good written and verbal communication skills.
You will carry out routine husbandry for a range of research species, with appropriate practical training and supervision. You will also be expected to undertake study towards the IAT level 2 qualification, or the next level if you already hold level 2. You may be expected to work in any of the UoB ASU facility. You will also be required to take part in the weekend and bank holiday rota.
