Individuals with extraordinary record of academic and/or professional achievement are sought to provide technical user support to scientists in an ambitious, well-funded interdisciplinary research group based in New York City. These hires will provide support that is critical to our research effort and involves close collaboration with our world-class team of chemists, biologists, and computer scientists. D. E. Shaw Research is pursuing long-term projects aimed at achieving major scientific advances in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology using high-performance computation for molecular dynamics simulation. We are developing multiple generations of the Anton special-purpose supercomputer, as well as a variety of simulation tools that run on commodity clusters and GPUs, with the aim of fundamentally transforming the process of drug discovery.

Successful hires will be dedicated to the improvement of our in-house software tools and user experience. They will be the first line of user support for our computational chemists and biologists, and will work with members of our software team to resolve open questions about our software. Responsibilities could include performing simulation diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintaining and improving documentation, and distributing software to third parties.
