Salary from £28,695 to £39,685 a year.
Applications are invited from outstanding individuals with a strong background in techniques such as: qPCR (e.g. TaqMan real time PCR), immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, SDS-PAGE/Western blotting and other standard biochemical and molecular techniques. Experience in intravital microscopy and of murine models of atherosclerosis are also necessary. The Research Fellow, will work in the School of Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the University of Birmingham.
The appointed Research Fellow will work full-time under the supervision of Prof. Ed Rainger, Professor of Chronic Inflammation, on a Programme
Grant funded by the British Heart Foundation; Do platelets exacerbate the atherogenic process by regulating the recruitment, differentiation and inflammatory function of monocytes. The post requires work with murine models of atherosclerosis and intravital imaging of leukocyte trafficking in genetically modified strains as well as blood tissue samples from patients.
The successful applicant will have a first degree in area of specialism (BMedSci, or relevant Life Science degree) and a PhD relevant to the research area. The range of work would include performing experiments, analyzing and interpreting data, dissemination of research findings through publication, supervision of students on research related work, developing new techniques and methods, and contributing to the development of research objectives and proposals.
