The University Hospital of Basel and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Basel is looking for a

Professor of Experimental Surgical Oncology (open rank)

The field of activity comprises two responsibilities and roles:

• Management of his/her own research group at the Department of Biomedicine (DBM) in a competitive and innovative field of research. Experimental oncology-oriented fields with synergies to existing research groups at the Faculty are preferred.
• Active cooperation and in particular, management of the research platform of surgical subjects, which serves as a link between clinical research and basic research and promotes translational research.

The applicant will fulfil the following requirements:

• Successful completion of a degree course in Medicine and/or Biology, a doctorate (MD, MD-PhD or PhD), post-doctoral qualification or equivalent academic qualification.
• Proven research experience with high-level publications and active external funding.
• Additional important pre-requisites: Ability to work in a team and organisational skills as well as commitment to teaching.
