Applications are invited for a Laboratory Technician to join our skilled team supporting teaching within the Department of Chemistry. This role will primarily involve technical support to the undergraduate teaching laboratories.

You will already have a knowledge of chemistry or a related subject, suitable training will be provided to develop your technical skills if necessary.

You need to work well as a member of a team and to have the ability to undertake a range of technical activities as required. You will be responsible for ensuring safe working of yourself and, where appropriate, others. The post will also involve manual handling, training for which will also be provided.

You must have 2 A-Levels in Chemistry or Biology or an equivalent level of vocational qualifications. It is desirable that you will be educated to degree level in a Science subject (or equivalent).

The successful applicant will have previous experience in a relevant technical/scientific role and experience of using laboratory equipment. A good level of IT literacy, particularly with standard packages such as MS Office is essential for the role.
