Job Description
We seek a talented and highly motivated individual to take overall responsibility for the technical project management of ELIXIR’s quality assurance processes, including the development of key performance indicators for ELIXIR services and the monitoring of these along with the establishment of effective reporting procedures.
Leading our service management and quality assurance work you will support the coordination of bioinformatics resources within ELIXIR Nodes’ into our interoperable and sustained ELIXIR service platforms and help implement long-term quality development and assurance processes across ELIXIR. You will also act as the liaison between ELIXIR services and our shared technical and data resource platforms and provide technical project management support to ensure delivery of agreed outcomes.
ELIXIR is a unique undertaking that consolidates Europe’s bioinformatics resources, services, and national centres into a single, coherent infrastructure. ELIXIR ensures interoperable tools, long-term sustainability and the reuse of life-science data by supporting community standards and running common services. As a distributed research infrastructure ELIXIR is built upon the bioinformatics services provided by the national ELIXIR Nodes.
The ELIXIR Hub is located at EMBL-EBI, Wellcome Trust Genome Campus, and has excellent facilities in an attractive campus environment in the Cambridgeshire countryside with transport provided to nearby Cambridge and Saffron Walden. At ELIXIR you would join a dynamic, international team. You will have frequent contact with our ELIXIR Nodes, located in our European member states, therefore occasional travel will be required.
Qualifications and Experience
Our ideal candidate will have:
• a university degree in the field of life-science, computer science, or another scientific, technical or engineering discipline with interest and experience of bioinformatics / medical informatics research.
• professional experience of delivery, monitoring and reporting scientific or technical services is essential. Experience of organising training or quality management programmes an asset.
• s/he has relevant project management experience in international research environment; proven ability to interact with multiple stakeholders to deliver and communicate results.
• s/he possesses excellent communication and presentation skills, and an ability to lead in a collaborative, international environment. Excellent English skills are essential.
