As part of an exciting, on-going collaboration between Cardiff University (CU) and Capital Medical University (CMU), Beijing, People’s Republic of China we will appoint up to 5 Research Fellows and associated PhD studentships.

We are seeking exceptional candidates to support our work in areas of research aligned to the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences’ Research Strategy. The successful candidates will be experienced post-doctoral researchers with an established track record of publication and grant acquisition and have realistic aspirations to become independent research leaders with national / international profiles in their chosen research area.

We seek to appoint the very best early career researchers, irrespective of scientific interest, but we are especially keen to attract applicants with expertise in areas of particular strategic interest to the partnership:

• Cerebro-vascular disease: preventive, therapeutic, rehabilitative studies;
• Functional imaging and patient selection in mental health;
• Brain tumours: correlation of molecular and functional imaging biomarkers;
• Novel immuno-therapies for virus-induced cancers;
• Chronic inflammation, wound healing and stem cells in health and disease.

Following their appointment, each Research Fellow will be based within an appropriate academic School within the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences, and will be supported with specialist mentoring and other relevant academic support.

Occasional travel to China and regular interactions with our partners in Beijing will be a requirement of this role.

These positions are full-time and are fixed term for four years

Salary: £40,082 – £46,414 per annum (Grade 7)
