We seek a highly motivated individual for the combined role of a Research Assistant in the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory of the Target Discovery Institute in Oxford (Old Road Campus) in addition to lab managing, supervising group finances and accounting. The lab and office work will be split in equal parts. The successful candidate will be involved in sample preparation for mass spectrometric analyses, supervising of MS instrumentation for the laboratory based aspect of the position. Consequently, experience with mass and sample preparation is essential. The office work will include quotation of work and sample running costs as well as invoicing and tracking of project status and ordering of consumables.

You must have a proactive and adaptable approach to work and willingness to tackle a variety of tasks and projects in parallel. Excellent record keeping and careful methodological work skills are essential as well as a very organised and structured work ethic.

You will have a Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or analytical chemistry with an active interest in undertaking and supporting scientific research. This full-time position is fixed-term for 1 year in the first instance.
