The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen invites applications for a
(salary grade W2; „Jülich model” permanent position) in the field of electrochemical storage materials
at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering.
In a joint procedure with Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, a dynamic personality is being sought to represent this subject area in research and education.
The successful candidate should have extensive experience in the field of electrochemical storage and ideally comprehensive knowledge of the following areas:
- Materials for electrochemical storage and their integration in battery cells
- Synthesis and processing of materials (particularly ceramics)
- Chemical and physical analytical techniques as well as state-of-the-art electrochemical characterization methods
The candidate has a proven track record in refereed publications and self-initiated research projects. The candidate should use his/her proven personnel and project management skills to promote new synergy effects between the University of Duisburg-Essen, the Forschungszentrum Jülich, the Helmholtz Institute Münster and other cooperation partners and to acquire third-party funds for research projects.
Research activities will be focused at the Institute of Energy and Climate Research – Materials Synthesis and Processing (IEK-1), Forschungszentrum Jülich, where the successful candidate will head the department of electrochemical storage.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach at least one master level course (2 hours SWS) per semester in the field of electrochemical storage materials at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
