The successful applicant for this position will be working in an interdisciplinary project spanning from metal photo-chemistry/organic synthesis and mass spectrometry at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark.
Fundamental understanding and exploration of the analytical potential of photo-active metals in the field of pharmaceutical peptide synthesis is the main objective of this project. This includes investigation of novel routes of producing post-translational modifications to pharmaceutical relevant peptides. Affinity and selectivity of various metal compounds to functional groups in polypeptides will also be studied.
The project embarks on state-of-the-art mass spectrometric techniques such as orbitrap mass spectrometry utilizing advanced peptide/protein fragmentation techniques of synthetic peptide libraries.
A prerequisite for application submission is a strong background in chemistry/protein chemistry with documented experience in mass spectrometry. Applicants are expected to be highly motivated, reliable and interested in working in an interdisciplinary and international environment. A good command of English is a requirement.
Hiring is expected from 1 October 2015 or soon thereafter.
