The Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at Boston University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the systems neuroscience of cognition and behavior in animal models (rodents), to begin July 2017, pending budgetary approval. The search is defined broadly to attract the very top candidates. Examples of specific research areas include (but are not restricted to) topics such as decision-making, emotional memory and habit learning. We would like to hire researchers using cutting-edge methodologies that have been a focus of the federal BRAIN initiative (e.g, calcium imaging, optogenetics, many neuron recording). Researchers will join an interdisciplinary team of systems neuroscientists studying the neural basis of complex behavior in our departmental Brain, Behavior, and Cognition Program and the Center for Systems Neuroscience. The candidate must be committed to establishing a vigorous, externally supported program of research, a strong publication record, and a strong teaching record. The successful candidate will be expected to teach three undergraduate and/or graduate courses per year and engage in research training at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
