The Department of Cell & Systems Biology at the University of Toronto invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in Systems Biology at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2016.
We will consider all outstanding applicants with a track record and demonstrated excellence in applying systems biology and/or synthetic biology approaches to address basic biological questions that will complement the strengths of the Department of Cell & Systems Biology in genomics, plant and microbial biology, cell and developmental biology, or neuroscience. The University of Toronto and its affiliated institutions represent an outstanding world-class scientific environment with a highly interactive community of researchers.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Biology or related field (e.g., Systems Biology, Synthetic Biology, Molecular & Cellular Biology, Genome Biology, Genetics, Neuroscience, etc.), and substantial postdoctoral experience. The candidate will be expected to pursue a vigorous internationally recognized research program. Evidence of excellence in research will be demonstrated by publications in top ranked and field relevant academic journals, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements by referees. In addition, we expect a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
